Hard Candy - Crush on Raisin

Hey guys!  I have to give props to one of the brands that really kick-started my polish obsession.  This brand is Hard Candy.  They're a cosmetics brand that has a wide variety of products and can be found in Walmart. Back in March 2013 they had a huge contest on their Facebook page for their latest polish collection, 45 polishes in all.  I was one of 5 lucky winners and from that day on my collection has exploded.

While I have most recently been buying mostly indies I do like the Hard Candy polishes.  They have a wide range of glitters, but my favourites are their "Crushed Chromes".  These polishes are all foil finishes, which I actually really like.

This is two easy coats topped with Seche Vite.  The formula on Crush on Raisin was very smooth and easy to apply.  It's on the thicker side, but not too thick to work with.  I actually prefer thicker polishes over thinner polish so it doesn't pool in the cuticles.  I love the depth and shine to the polish.  While it's not a duochrome or multichrome, it does have a very slight shift to it.  The best way I can describe the polish is a more like a rose gold and in my opinion it seems like a very unique colour.

I love how these polishes have these little flecks that peek out from the base and the high shine that is almost reflective.  Unfortunately foils can be prone to brushstrokes as show off every little imperfection on the nail.  I didn't really have any problems with brushstrokes, and personally they aren't a polish deal breaker for me anyway.  As I noted previously I have deeply ridged nails and you can see that especially on my pinky and ring finger.  I have a full-length groove on my right ring finger and it's very evident with this polish.

At this point I've come to accept my flaws and let them go.  If I didn't wear a polish because it showed off my ridges, I'd never be able to wear them.  What do you think?  Are you a foil or metallic finish fan?  I know that they're not everyone's cup of tea.  Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

Hard Candy polishes can be purchased in the Walmart beauty section.  They retail for $3.99 in Canada and each polish is 7.8ML or 0.26 FL. OZ.
